d'Arry's restaurant and loft on Kings Street in Cambridge has undergone a transformation after being "Stolen" by the Owners son Charlie.
Charlie’s idea is to ‘steal’ the best food and ingredients from around the world and bring them together in an all day menu of stretched sourdoughs, grills and salads: from Sea Bass, to pesto, to hoisin duck and wasabi. There are so many combinations on the menu including options for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans.
With space for private parties available with walls lined with back lit empty wine bottles its perfect for any gatherings.
The Liquor Loft has over 100 gins on offer, as well as barrel-aged cocktails. If wine is your tipple they also have plenty on offer. This quirky space hosts live music nights and open mic nights on top of happy hour days so its the perfect place for an after work drink.
After a fire in the building in 2008 they discovered parts of the building they never knew were there like the brewing equipment. They've made this a feature point for the loft and it really adds to the quirkiness of the aesthetics and the history of the restaurant. They have also started brewing their own small batches from its own craft brewery in Bury St Edmunds The Old Cannon Brewery.
Debs and I were kindly treated to a tour of the restaurant and loft by Charlie, as well as being able to try the sourdough and drinks. I tried a Bramble cocktail and Debs had a G&T and they certainly were delicious and perfectly presented. The building is also all covered by art by Samuel Harris which you must go check out his "stolen" ideas dotted, adding some lively colour to this cool hangout.
I've also found my new favourite way to eat cauliflower as coronation cauliflower was super delicious. We sampled some of the sourdough and salads and there was so much flavour and colour to these dishes. I must go back and try out more combinations!
*Press opening night - the food and drink was kindly gifted
