Czech Me Out - Prague City Break🇨🇿

This year for me as been the year of city break with Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Prague all under my belt this year. I did little research before my trip to Prague but we got a good deal on Expedia with flights and hotel from Thursday to Saturday.

We stayed at Deluxe Room in the Cathedral Prague Apartments* which was seconds from the Old Town Square and super easy to get around from as a base. The public transport to get there was also super easy with it just being a bus then a metro trip that took about 40 minutes. Our room had twin beds, a little kitchenette, bathroom and little dinning area to eat at.

Our first museum of the trip was of course the Choco-Story Chocolate Museum. The museum showed the history of Cacao from over 3000 years ago to how its produced now, including how it used for trade and ancient rituals.  We then got a praline lesson where we were shown how they made praline filled chocolates and of course got to taste them afterwards! If chocolate is your thing I definitely suggest you visit this museum.

After stuffing our faces with chocolate we then headed to the Gallery of Art Prague which had a Warhol, Dali and Alfons Mucha. You could pay to visit certain exhibitions so we just saw the Warhol and Dali. The Warhol exhibition had a lot about his personal life which was really interesting to see how it effected his artwork. They had some of his line drawings which were so unlike the work he is known for but was so simple but I want them all as prints for my walls! If modern art is your taste I would definitely recommend this gallery.

Our flights didn't get us in till 1pm so we just did the two museums then wandered round to get our bearings. We caught the view from Charles Bridge at golden hour which was so beautiful and bustling with people.  There were some really good buskers playing pop songs and ABBA which made the atmosphere of watching golden hour pass by even nicer.

For dinner I had seen a place on Tripadvisor where they flambé your pasta so of course I had to go check it outRistorante Pagana was very well tucked away down an alley way then in the basement of a building like a little Aladdins cave of Italian food. I must say the theatrical experience of my pasta was impressive with flames and rolling the pasta in a large Parmesan wheel.

On the second day we had breakfast at our apartments restaurant and then set off for Prague Castle. I did not realise how much of a walk it was from our apartment especially as it was up a rather long steep hill. However when you reach the top the view is so beautiful over the city it was worth the trek. I didn't take many pictures to show when I was in the castle because many of the places you couldn't take pictures but there were so many elements to the castle you should allow a good couple of hours to explore. My favourite but was the Golden Lanes and seeing the history of the people that once lived there.

For lunch we ventured out the castle grounds and found a lovely little restaurant to have some goulash. The meat was so tender and no I can't stop craving goulash after trying it here. I didn't catch the name of the restaurant but it was on Loretánská street.

On our walk back from the castle we stopped off at the Gingerbread museum which was much more of a gingerbread shop unlike the name suggests but it was full of a gingerbread creation for every occasion or taste you could think of. I picked up this cheery chap and some little gingerbread hearts which were delicious and gave me Christmas feels.

We headed up the Charles Bridge Tower on the way back to our apartment but let me tell you the stairs did kill me after all the hills to the castle, but it was worth it for the view. You could get a 360 view of the city across the river and inland from the tower so I would definitely say its worth a trip but maybe it you want the best view try and coincide it with golden hour for the best pictures.

By this point we had built up quite a thirst so decided to swing by the Ice Pub which was all ice including the glasses so you had to drink quickly! You get 30 minutes to enjoy the -7 temperatures with your thermal poncho and gloves to stop your hands freezing to the ice glasses. It was certainly a different experience but not one I'd rush back to.

\

We warmed up by playing a game of Black Light Adventure Mini Golf at Prague Golf and Games. This was a really good course with very different holes which was even more challenging in the dark! But you were given fluorescent golf balls and the option of florescent face paint. If you want to take a break from museums and walking round this is the perfect activity.

For dinner we decided to splash out and went to the Cloud 9 Sky Bar and Lounge on the rooftop of the Hilton. I had a Charisma cocktail and we had the rib-eye steak with citrus salad and red wine essence. This was certainly fancy but I would suggest maybe this as more of somewhere to go in the summer to catch sunset rather on a cold autumn night!

Of course I had to finish my meal off with a Trdelnik filled with Nutella which was the Czech answer to chimney cakes which is a kind of spit cake. It is made from rolled dough that is wrapped around a stick, then grilled and topped with sugar and walnut mix.

On our last day we didn't have a full day so we decided to visit the Prague Zoo, we took a tram and a bus to get to it, which was included in our Prague cards as well as entry to the zoo. The zoo is set around a hill so again it did involve a lot of walking. I do love a zoo and it was nice to see so many of the animals taking a dip in their pools; both the polar bear and the tiger were having a splashing time!  All in all a good zoo!

It was then time to head back to the airport to fly home but they had just unveiled the Astronomical Clock after it being renovated while we were there with an amazing light projection show on the hour . I stopped by on the way to the airport to take a quick picture which was rather difficult with the hoards of people gathering round it to take a look.

That was my Prague city break! Have you been? I definitely think I have to go back and explore more!

Rimmel London MAGNIF'EYES Spice Edition 🍁

With my love of autumn and the time of year where spice themed everything seems to be around I just had to pick this new Rimmel London MAGNIF'EYES Spice Edition*. I had tried out Rimmel eyeshadow last year when I got sent the MAGNIF'EYES Nude Edition* by Influenster (See my post on that one here) and I was super impressed with the quality for the price. I also saw a lot of people relating this palette back to the Urban Decay Naked Heat* dupe so I was fascinated to see how they could compare.

When I have seen swatches of the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette* I was shocked at the comparisons between the shade range similarities. Almost to the point where if I saw them swatched next to each other I may not be able to tell the difference! I don't have the Naked Heat palette to compare with in person but I have seen a lot of other people swatching side to side with the palettes and there seems to be very little difference at all. The formula is really creamy and easy to blend, but you still get excellent pigmentation for the cost. With £30.51 in price difference with the Rimmel eyeshadows being less that £10 I would definitely stick with Rimmel over the Urban Decay palette.

The colour range is very warm so if those colours aren't for you this isn't the best option but they have so many other colours in their other palettes. With it being strong colours it won't be a palette I will reach for everyday but for when I'm going to evenings out or completing my autumn outfits.

Have you tried this Rimmel London Spice palette or the Naked Heat palette?
